God’s judgment of the whole earth is coming sooner rather than later. Isaiah used the phrase “in that day” four times in reference to God’s imminent condemnation of a sinful world (Isa. 26:1; 27:1-2,12). Likewise, in that day there will also be salvation and peace: “And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation” (Isa. 25:9). Those who have been in covenant with the Lord, and who have kept His commands will be saved.

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength” (Isa. 26:3-4). The one whose mind is “stayed” on God will have perfect peace. The word “stayed” in the Hebrew means “to be made secure or firm.” The “stayed” mind is supported and sustained. This is not mere focus or concentration. Rather, this is a mind that is supported through the peace and strength of the Lord. Surely, this would have to be the case for those who live in such restless times. A mind distracted during conflict must be sustained through God’s peace and assurance.

As the world plunges itself deeper into the bottled-up wrath of God, it is important that we keep our minds stayed on the Lord.
