The apostle Paul asks what can separate us from the love of God (Rom. 8:38-39). Death, life, angels, principalities, powers, height, depth, or creature can shall be able to separate us from God’s love. And Paul is correct, none of those things can separate us from the love of God.

But there was one thing that could separate us from the love of God. Isaiah says, “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that he will not hear” (Isa. 59:1-2).

Iniquities and sin created a barricade between God and His people. It caused sinful humanity to run towards evil, swift to shed innocent blood, and to forsake justice (Isa. 53:7-8). This awful barrier lead man to grown for salvation. Unfortunately, there was nothing man could do to save himself, so it was God who would bring salvation to sinners (Isa. 59:16).

Therefore, God came to do what man could not do. By God’s own right hand, He brought salvation. He broke down the awful barrier of sin that separated humanity from Himself. Life and death couldn’t stop Him. Angels couldn’t stop Him. Principalities and powers couldn’t stop Him. Height and depth couldn’t stop Him. Creation couldn’t even stop Him.

There was only one thing that could stop Him, and that was sin. But God wouldn’t even allow that to stop Him from saving humanity. God robed Himself in flesh, battled every force and temptation, and was unscathed by sin’s defilement (Heb. 4:15). He who knew no sin, became sin that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor. 5:21)!

Nothing would stand in God’s way of pursuing humanity’s salvation. What a wonderful Savior!
