After everyone had their say concerning Job’s predicament, things took a drastic turn. “Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind” (Job 38:1). Elihu, Eliphaz, Bildad, Zophar and Job all had their time to say something. But until the Lord spoke, it was all for nought. The Lord asked, “Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge” (Job 38:2)?
People like to analyze and talk. They offer their opinions and proudly proclaim their point of view. Social media has given everyone a platform with the ability to voice their opinions. It’s not that people didn’t have opinions, and didn’t share them before. It just wasn’t broadcasted for all the world to see and hear. It doesn’t matter how uneducated, brilliant, ignorant, enlightening, or foolish it might be, people are sharing their opinions. The writer of Proverbs said, “Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him” (Prov. 29:20 ESV).
God was going to have the final say in Job’s life. And one of these days, He is going to have the final say for all of history. All opinions, point of views, and theories will be silenced and Almighty God will speak from the whirlwind of judgement.
